You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

Cannot beat a breaky uppy mode, saves the hand cramps and chipped knuckles knocking ten bells out of a chod of conc with a hammer and chisel.

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

IKEA - What a balls up!

So I'm sorting out my old office and had ordered a new desk from IKEA. It only cost £25 and they wanted another £30 to deliver it! Alternatively, they'd deliver it to my local Tesco for £5, and I can grab it from there today. Champion!

So after three days, they hadn't even despatched it. That didnt happen until late last night. They're leaving it a bit late, I thought. Anyway...

Wake up this morning to an email at 7am that my collection slot is from 8am-11am and my order will be returned if I don't collect in that window. Fuck! I don't have the car today - not until later this evening when I planned to collect it. None of this crap was mentioned when I ordered. But as it turned out, it was all academic anyway.

10:50am, order tracking says my desk is still in transit and hasn't arrived at Tesco for collection. I didn't hear another peep, until 11:05 when I got an email saying I'd missed my collection slot and my order has been cancelled and returned to the IKEA.

The upshot is my office is still all over the place, I still don't have a desk, and I've had to spend ages finding something else the right size for my needs which now won't be here til the arse-end of next week.

If only I'd Googled for IKEA reviews before I would never have gone near. I never realised that they're so stupendously incompetent.

Bet the bastards don't give me my £5 delivery charge back either.

I hope all their shitty meatballs go mouldy in the heat.  >:(  >:(  >:(

I think it's great when you order stuff in 2025... And tracking goes "Delivery between 7am and 10pm"

I mean, come on... Its 2025... Surely to god they can predict a delivery window a bit tighter then basically "anytime"!

Also, you specify where to put the delivery to a safe place, like "Shed". I ordered some F-clamps, 2 biguns, got the delivery notice, and could I hell find it anywhere in the shed, yard or anywhere, so the seller got on to the courier, and they sent me the picture of a random path... Just a random path.

Not a scooby do, a few days later there was a knock on my door, a woman was there asking if I was Michael Denathorn, I was like "Yeah", then she proceeded to tell me she pops into see an old lady and found a package of mine, knowing my late mam, she knew she was a Denathorn and found out where I lived and dropped them off... I wouldnt mind you know, but the bungalow they were dropped off at is about five frigging streets away?!?  ???

Honestly, they let these people spawn kids you know!!!

One of the big reasons I prefer to go down in person buy something, and take it there and then.
Paid at 8:00 on a Thursday for next day delivery on a keyboard. Bloody thin didn't arrive until the following Monday in the late evening.
If you've dug yourself into a hole. Just keep digging. You're bound to come out the other side eventually.

Aye but the nearest IKEA is two hours away and it would have cost me probably £25 in fuel plus at least four and a half hours of my time. Hence, I figured delivery was the best option. How wrong I was!

The best option was not to shop at IKEA in the first place!

You'd of saved a £10 compaired to there charge?  ::)
