You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

Cannot beat a breaky uppy mode, saves the hand cramps and chipped knuckles knocking ten bells out of a chod of conc with a hammer and chisel.

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

Its Wreckfest for me, on the old XBox. Cracking game with great physics, impressive destructive cars and tuneable cars.

What've you been playing of late?

Matty

I recently upgraded my PC (from old 2014 budget gaming machine to more modern gaming machine) and have tried the following games:
Diablo 2 Resurrected
Dawn of War (Anniversary Edition)
Space Hulk Tactics

They're all decent games but I'm not as much of a gamer anymore so I don't play them for long bursts, just a few minutes here and there.

Other than that, of course I've been playing Conflict 3049 (my own game) which I enjoy despite it looking nowhere near as good as the other titles mentioned.

Generally, the early 90's passed by and then everyman and their dog was issuing software with a 100000 worded EULA.

If your rocking a boxed copy of Lemmings from 1991, that's yours... It was released with the more traditional notion of ownership... Any Lemmings game after, stuffed with EULA's, them games aren't yours, only a license to play them.

Honestly, it just amazes me that this none ownership of software has been a thing for over 30 years now, and it seems in only the last 2-3 years it's actually dawned on people this is the case! :/

That's because they used to get a physical copy in the past, and didn't have to pay through the nose. Though I don't know why people buy on-line multiplayer only games when the publisher can just pull the rug from under them any time they like by closing the server. But now they realise that a game is starting to cost what would be almost a days wage for some, and still have to have the overhead of having to pay for an internet service provider to download it and play it.

The last physical game I bought was Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Which was just about the same time that Blizzard started to do everything online. And since then, all I've done is download anything that I fancy that is free from any of the main publishers. You may think that doing that is screwing the developers, but who is really screwing who when you pay a lot of money for a game, only to find out one day that you can no longer reinstall it, or play it. And as one publisher have said that "buying a game isn't owning it". Then going by their logic piracy isn't stealing it either.
If you've dug yourself into a hole. Just keep digging. You're bound to come out the other side eventually.

Just waiting for that special moment. :P

Starcraft was a good game. I liked playing WRATH of KHAN series. Which is sorta like it.

After playing Space Hulk Tactics for a bit and enjoying the original board games a lot (and having made the game for various platforms and in various languages many times) - I thought to myself - I could build this in Javascript using threejs for my web browser in 3d.

In terms of 3d assets all you really need is the following:
1. Floor tile x n (where n = more than 1 for variety only)
2. Wall tile x n
3. Inner corner tile x n
4. Cornice piece x n
5. Door and Door Frame
6. Marine/Soldier with gun
7. Marine/Soldier with alternative gun.
8. Marine/Soldier with close combat weapon and gun.
9. Alien with nasty claws and teeth.
10. Some tokens for blips and other such things.
11. Any extra stuff you feel like adding.

And I have the ability to either model or reuse existing assets for all of these.

The code is fairly simple.

All I really need is to be able to do the following:
1. Position and move a camera in 3d space.
2. Load and display .obj models in various orientations.
3. Load and apply shaders.
4. Display 2d png graphics with transparency over the top.
5. Allow for mouse input with both left and right mouse buttons.
6. General logic.

That's it basically.

Edit: Additional: Oh...I discovered after playing for a while that the developers/publisher of the game Space Hulk Tactics pulled the matchmaking service on PC and Xbox after just a few months after release, so it's single player only on PC now and for most of its life so far.

Gran Turismo 7, and Sniper Elite Resistance.

Both have ridiculous bugs but they pass an hour on when there's nowt on the telly.
