You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

Cannot beat a breaky uppy mode, saves the hand cramps and chipped knuckles knocking ten bells out of a chod of conc with a hammer and chisel.

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

Hello,
I'm using an old netbook (EeePC 1215B AMD e450, 8GB RAM, 480 SSD) with Windows 11 (23H2, the last one supported by this CPU due to the instruction set). Everything works without problems, just like with Windows 7. I removed all the added software from MS and disabled telemetry (which I could remove). I don't see why it wouldn't work properly on your much more modern computers. Good luck with your testing.

PS: Rufus is the password ;)

That's fine as long as it's not connected to the internet. Otherwise it's not a secure system.

Hey, I recommend "SolidEdge" or "Solidworks", it runs with many more advantages than "Fusion 360". I use the first one, and they won't bother you about the OS version you're using.

If you have an older PC, I suppose the "SolidEdge ST8" version would work for you. Try it.

I've just bought a new PC with Windows 11 but I'll keep my old rig with Windows 10 for a long time, but in the LAN only.

I'm currently scratching my head about that new High DPI "feature" and that many of my old Blitz stuff and other applications look weird on High DPI and scaling is a pain in the a$$. Thanks, MS :P

Most old apps seem to work so far, even a 2020 Substance Painter but I'm curious about more MS landmines
Kind regards

Tried reinstalling Windows 10 on my old PC last week (GTX970, I7-4790K CPU, 32GB RAM). Threw some random error (x00392028484938 or something of that ilk).

Tried Win11 via Rufus (CPU doesn't support Win11) and it installed but it still didn't like the cut of its jib; display drivers freaking out and sporadic crashes etc.

Install Linux, maybe? Ha, no! Why install something I won't use?

Couldn't be chewed with it all, in the end, took the whole sodding lot to the tip this morning!

Hello,
When a computer starts to malfunction like this, all you have to do is be patient and take it apart part by part and replace it with a replacement part that you know works well. That way, you'll find the cause of your problems sooner or later...
And of course... When you finally get it right, you'll build up a beautiful workshop out of old junk, and you won't even know how it all got there. XD
  R.-

PS: It's usually the RAM or the power supply. RAM can be cleaned by erasing its contacts with a pencil eraser, and the power supply by buying a new one, if you're lazy and wealthy :).
