You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

Content Hosting Policy (UK, EU & US Compliance)

This website archives programming tutorials and source code archives from previous sources, provided for educational and historical reference. We have taken reasonable steps to remove identifiable author details, but if an oversight has occurred—either for copyrighted content or personal information—please follow the procedure below.

Notice & Request Procedure (Applicable in UK, EU & US)
If you recognize your work or find personal details that were unintentionally retained, please follow this process:

1) Submit a Request – Contact us via notices@syntaxboom.com, specifying the URL/ID of the material.

2) Proof of Ownership or Identity – To prevent false claims, you must provide one or more of the following as verification:

  • A link to the original publication or archived version under your name (for copyright claims).
  • A signed statement verifying authorship or personal identification (for personal data removal).
  • Documentation of copyright registration (if applicable).
  • Any other evidence confirming you are the original creator or identifiable person within the content.

3) Request Options – Upon verification, you may choose to:

(a) Remove Personal Details – Identifiable information will be deleted under applicable data protection laws:

  • UK: Data Protection Act 2018 (UK GDPR)
  • EU: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • US: California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) & Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (where applicable)

(b) Remove Content – Full content deletion will be processed in accordance with copyright and digital service laws.

(c) Add Acknowledgment – Attribution details can be added without restoring personal data.

(d) DMCA Counter-Notice (For US-based claims) – If a takedown request is challenged, content may be reinstated unless legal action is pursued.

4) Action Taken – Valid requests will be processed within 5 business days, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

Handling DMCA Requests in the UK
This website is based in the United Kingdom and adheres to UK copyright law. However, if we receive a DMCA takedown request from a US-based copyright holder, we will:

  • Verify the claim under UK/EU copyright law before processing the request.
  • Require proof of ownership, ensuring compliance with UK and EU verification standards before taking action.
  • Allow the original creator to respond, providing them the opportunity to confirm ownership or dispute removal.
  • Only remove content if legally required under UK/EU copyright regulations, rather than automatically following DMCA procedures.

International Copyright & Data Protection Considerations
This website operates under international copyright and data protection principles, including:

  • Berne Convention (Global) – Copyright protection is automatic, and takedown requests are handled accordingly.
  • Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) (United States) – While not directly binding in the UK, US-based claims will be evaluated under UK/EU law before action is taken.
  • Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (United Kingdom) – Ensures compliance with copyright protections and takedown laws.
  • Digital Services Act (DSA) 2022 & Copyright Directive 2019/790/EU (European Union) – Mandates content removal without undue delay upon valid request.

Data Protection Laws by Region:

  • UK: Data Protection Act 2018 (UK GDPR)
  • EU: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • US: California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) & Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (where applicable)
  • China, India, Australia, Japan & Canada – Compliance with local copyright and moral rights laws, ensuring fair representation and attribution.
