You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

Cannot beat a breaky uppy mode, saves the hand cramps and chipped knuckles knocking ten bells out of a chod of conc with a hammer and chisel.

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

As some off you may well be aware. Windows 10 is about to lose it's support from Microsoft.

I feel like being back when i was forced to move on from XP pro. I loved that system.

Now im quite used to Windows 10 with my XP classic start menu.

I really dont want to move on to Windows 11. However there must be away of Skinning it to look like Windows 10 and have the XP start menu back.

I must be getting set in my ways as im starting to hate change :-X

I'm not a fan of Windows 11, it's grown on me since it's been sorted because on release (AKA A huge public beta noone wanted), it was shambolic mind.

I still dont like the bland visuals and sounds, but, they have fixed a lot of broken stuff within the GUI, and it wasnt even my code either, their own stuff was knackered and the visuals looked all to pot!

But I've put up with it, and yes, I wish it would revert back to XP times when using Windows seemed more fun as an environment to work in.

If the computer is not proprietary, e.i. comes with pre-installed software. You can do a Windows 11 without all the bloatware that Microsoft sticks into it, by using a autounattend.xml.

You can generate one from here.

If you've dug yourself into a hole. Just keep digging. You're bound to come out the other side eventually.

And if you don't want to sign up for a Microsoft account during boot installation.

When it asks about connecting to a network, just hold Shit with F10.
You then get a command prompt. just type
oobe\BypassNRO

Press enter. The machine will reboot. And the next time it comes to connecting to a network, you'll see a "I don't have a network" option at the bottom.

In my opinion, to this day, Windows XP is the best version of windows they developed. The next best was Windows 98 SE. Windows Me was the worst.

I am a windows geek, but Microsoft seems to be doing what a lot of other companies are doing. They are adding bloatware(stuff we never use) to windows, including ads. They are trying to control us and make us go in the direction they want is to go and force us to except what ever they do with windows. It is harder to do things now because of what they are doing.

Some day I might go completely Linux. I have bought a Linux version (Zorin OS Pro, version 17.3. It is base on Ubuntu 20.04. I love it a lot. It has come a long way from the time I discovered it.
Being popular is way too much work, I just want to be me, myself and I. Oh no, does that mean I'm bipolar?

Have a look at Parrot OS! It's already setup for coding  ;)

Hello, You can keep Windows 10 for 10 more years. You just need to download the latest LTSC version available on MS servers. I think you'll need a new license; I can't confirm that for you.
Look for the features of the "Windows LTSC" versions; they might be what you're looking for (they don't come with bloatware). There's also an LTSC version for Win 11.
Over and out. R.-

After Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025, Microsoft will offer Extended Security Updates (ESU) for those who want to keep their systems secure.

For individual users, the ESU subscription will cost $30 per year.

For businesses and organizations, the cost starts at $61 per device for the first year, and doubles each consecutive year for up to three years.

These updates will provide critical security patches, but no new features or general support. If your PC meets the requirements, upgrading to Windows 11 remains a free option

As a side note, if you want to install Windows 11 but your hardware is not "supported"(!), you can use Rufus.

https://rufus.ie/en/

You'll need a USB stick of suitable size, and what it does is automatically download the correct ISO and create a bootable USB drive. As an added bonus you can also turn off that annoying necessity to link a Microsoft account and just use a local account instead.
