Anyway, she found the prosecco and choccies in the bucket, and was over the moon with the setup, and I got a big hug for my effort! Hehehe

Well, she loved it, when I her the mop and bucket she was like "Dabz, what the hell?", and I said "I'm thinking ahead Glenda, see, your getting on a bit, and if you inadvertanly do a wee on the kitchen floor... Voila, your sorted" :D

My mop and bucket was £30. 🤨 It's a Vileda one and you stick it in the bucket and press a pedal with your foot and it spins round and dries the mop out AND IT'S BRILLIANT! 👌

Oh, I can give you a tip right now, no need to wait... Ahem... Pay someone a fiver to do it, even the bucket was a chew! :D ;)

There is no talking on this video as my mic has broken but you can see it working and hear a midi file playing and i try to show some features that are working as well , This software was originally created by software technologies in 1989 when it was called Gajits Sequencer one , over the next 4 years newer versions appeared and it got better and better , then the big boys showed up like cubase notator and logic all the bigwigs, but i stuck with my trusty Atari ST software called Breakthru for a few years before transitioning to the big wigs, the reason i am doing this is because of 1 little feature that most big wig sequencers dont do , "The Tidy Block" function hehe , i know what ya saying all this for one little function ........ Yes

anyways here is a little video demo of it running so far , its about 70% complete so much to do yet but its a work in progress

By the way in the video you can hear a midi track of Toto - Hold the line
its played through a virtual midi sound font player but i have tested it on an external device and it does sound better.

Enjoy

The glitching in the audio is the snipping tool from windows as its capturing it but normally it runs smooth :)

yep its definitely me

Quote"The Tidy Block" function hehe , i know what ya saying all this for one little function ........ Yes

I Fully get it. Sometimes you have todo it yourself, to get what you want.

The Keyboard Function towards the end. Is that going to be able to be linked to a Midi device were you could plug an instrument in and play it. Such as You cannot view this attachment.

Actually its a Step editor

but yes i will let the external midi keyboard do the step entry also i noticed on the original that to change the octave you use the slider on the left of the grid piano as you move it up it changes the octave for the step editor :)

also added the about screen image showing that the events used and free are now working

More to come :)

Going back on what you asked about midi in devices as soon as you connect one to the PC it will auto detect in the midi options page and you can select it on the fly ,also when breakthru starts the options are set for the midi in to be "soft thru" to the device of your choice ,connected via the midi out options.

The only cards ive seen for the PC are like old sound blaster cards windows 98/95.

I love retro synth music would be great to feed a track in and the program spit some notes keys back for you to play along with.  :D

I don't understand baggey ,this is a midi sequencer not an audio daw,you can connect a midi usb keyboard and external device to play the midi or use a virtual midi device like coolsoft virtual midi for windows which uses SF2 sound font files and is much better than the windows default one

My breakthru will auto detect any virtual device and any internal or external devices.

Just a little update

Had a little bit of a nightmare weekend which set me back a little

So I decided to clean up my code and save and backup incase of future muckups,in the event of cleaning up the code I then saved and backed up and then shutdown my laptop and left for 2 days ,only to comeback to it ,too continue where I left off too find that the program ran but did not door anything like mouse clicks or the menu items would not work ,but yet before I saved it ran fine ,I even had it in debug mode and it shows no errors ,strange I thought ,so after 14 hours of retracing my steps only to find that when using a laptop and have fat fingers don't catch the ' key to comment out lines

All because of this 1 line comment it cost me 14 hours of hell 😒

But all fixed now

What a weekend

Have fun peeps

78% done working

Just going to work on the .BTS load and save

😀
yep its definitely me

I have found sometimes if you have more than one BlitmaxNG IDE open or you don't close programs properly and then turn PC off! It can cause problems with the save .bmx files of what you were working on!

I found that out the hard way  :-X

Another little update

Got the fileselector working

added a few more tweaks
Midi files load in with a resolution of 480 ppqn now and breakthru converts then to 96 ppqn
some midi files were not being loaded correctly but thats all fine now.

just working on the step edit piano so when you play the midi keyboard it plays the notes and enters them
on the grid, also added a change octave with the grid octave slider , this was on the original :)

next couple of days i am going to work on the .BTS song files there a little like midi files but these save all the user work settings like metronome ,soft thru etc....

got the memory usage working on the about screen showing you how many events you have used and how many you
have left with a nice progress bar.

The Meterbridge has been tweaked a little to fall better and smoother

apart from that for now thats all i can tell you

oh and i managed to detect if there is any notes on the tracks when recording this will then Light up the little grey triangle to black on the track this inturn can be enabled or disabled so the track will play or not.

To do

The infamous Tidy Block , thats the whole point of writing this program
track info page
Sysex Loading and dumping with work songs
Song Markers
Song Info
Keyboard Help Or Instructions
and loads of tidy ups :)

But again thats all i can tell ya :)

speak soon
