You can also get the expanding foam post fix, but, I wouldnt trust it really, especially where I live on the side of a valley and when the storms blow in the right direction, whistling down the valley, nowt is safe!

Cannot beat a breaky uppy mode, saves the hand cramps and chipped knuckles knocking ten bells out of a chod of conc with a hammer and chisel.

I have a massive JCB drill with a concrete breaky uppy mode which has got me out of jail free a couple of times replacing rotted fence posts that has been concreted in.

Putting my 2 deckings in.... I've dug enough post holes to last me a life time... I feel sorry for the future poor sod who may want to shift'em... Like most things I do, I tend to go over the top, and as such, I've probably got shares in postcrete! :D

Consult a qualified electrician for compliance with BS 7671 and local building Regs! Avoid areas where future digging is likely. ;)

That depends on where the cable is to run. Minimum depth in a garden in 450mm. Under pavements 600mm.

Does anyone dabble in this. Using Linux?

If so what apps do you use for it.
Running a Pc that just aint. Faster nough. I7-4Ghz, 32Gb Ram, 4Gb Nvidia, 2 x 1Tb SSD's, 2 x 24" LCD's

RETRO everything!

On Windows, I use the usual Premier Pro by Adobe, I like it, generally follows the Photoshop work flow I'm used to, and I can turn the subscription on/off when needed. Bit of a pisser that bit, but, I cannot be chewed to learn anything else, being a complete lazy arse that I've turned into when it comes to such things.

So on Linux, not a clue, and surprised noone has come forth, so with a coffee, I've just had a look and found this:

Kdenlive

Type: Free & Open Source
Best for: Beginners to intermediate users
Features: Multi-track editing, effects, transitions, proxy editing, and GPU acceleration

Why it shines: User-friendly interface with powerful features

DaVinci Resolve

Type: Free & Paid (Studio version)
Best for: Professional editors
Features: Advanced color grading, audio post-production, visual effects

Why it shines: Hollywood-grade capabilities, though installation on Linux requires some setup

Shotcut

Type: Free & Open Source
Best for: Casual users and YouTubers
Features: Wide format support, filters, timeline editing

Why it shines: Simple interface with solid performance

Olive

Type: Free & Open Source (still in alpha)
Best for: Experimental users
Features: Node-based editing, modern UI

Why it shines: Promising future with a sleek design

Flowblade

Type: Free & Open Source
Best for: Fast, efficient editing
Features: Precise timeline control, batch rendering

Why it shines: Lightweight and fast for quick edits

No idea what they are like, but there we are anyway!

Yeah. But I don't think that Premier or Vega can run on RISC OS. :P
If you've dug yourself into a hole. Just keep digging. You're bound to come out the other side eventually.
