Title: ZX81 AlienDropOut Remake
Post by: Baggey on Jun 25, 2025, 04:20 PM
I finally got the mojo to get going again.

Originally inspired by @RemiD

Also thanks to @Xerra and @Hardcoal for encuriging me to try and finish! ;)

I finally got my head around the Pod logic. It's a work in progress but it's BlitzmaxNG so it's here. Move if you like no problemo!

Were are you Xerra! Hope your good.

Making steady progress with smart bomb logic today etc.. etc..

From my child hood there where 6 games i liked on the ZX81. So im going to create a Fade to Grey engine, where its the same as the zx81 but with pixel perfect movement and sound! Additionally i may insert shades of grey not 50 maybe 6.

Oh and im concentrating on playability so its addictive to play  ::)

i find it incredible (and motivating!) that with languages / graphics engines /  sound engines, like blitzbasic and blitzmax, a lone dev can manage to reproduce old games from the 1980-2000 era.

keep it up ! 👏🤓

Thanks its work in progress!

I have This to finish as my first Game. Then ive got my emulators.

And to top it all of! Im writing Cmax or BitzmaxBG Which will be fully compliant with BlitzmaxNG but with added commands and C thrown in as well  :o  ???  8)

i could work on a 3d version, from the turret point of view (on the ground), yes.

same shapes and colors than my 2d version, but in 3d.

it could be a fun exercise. 🤔📝🤓💻

I dont mind i can send you stuff unless your going totally from ground up?

Isuppose the 3D could look like a 2d Isometric type engine ::)

yes i will create my own worklog, and repost my 2d version, and then a 3d version.

with the same shapes and colors and the same gameplay, but in 3d, with a point of view from the turret.
