So normally i like ParrotOS ::)
But FedoraOS and anduinoOS are stepping upto the mark! 8)
Just one problem with linux :( It cant run .exe's if it did!
Windows 11. With it's you must have account! You must have TPM 2.0
Will be dead in it's tracks.
if i buy something it's mine! Why do i need a Fricken account and be online to use it.
What goes around will come around.
PS4 JailBracked! Xbox One nearly DONE there's a pun in that one!

When it comes to software generally... The top and bottom answer to that is because it's not actually yours... You only have a license to use it, and as such, when you install it, you'd be pretty much agreeing to the EULA which probably has them red lines in, any rights to "owning" it are simply not there.
It's not only MS that have that, every software company pretty much states that... That PC of yours, you own the lumps and bumps, the thing that makes it all work, nah... Same with Apple, same with Nintendo, same with any publisher of anything.
And since the world is pretty much nigh-on getting to downloads only, you own absolutely sod all. Yep, when you bought boxed games, you owned the box, the bit you could put up on a shelf, but to use the software, you still had to agree to a EULA, signing all rights away even before starting the installation.
Apple even went one step further with hardware, where components were pretty much nailed to the device, a scammy little setup called "Parts Pairing", so if something went fruity, you had no way to repair it unless it was repaired by Apple, a third-party couldnt buy a replacement, or even a broken device to rob whatever was knackered in yours because said piece was from another device... It simply wouldnt work.
This obviously drove people nuts, but unfortunately, they agreed to an EULA which stated this was the case... Like all EULA's, no sod read it, but when it was exposed, hell on, enough so that Apple backed off, not all, just a little, so people could get spare parts and tools, but, again, you have to get them from Apple because they need to be paired with your device.
This none "ownership" thing has been going on for a very long time, but it's getting even worse now due to hardware being involved too, heck, it's even gone from the PC/Console domain, now companies such as BMW are selling cars where pretty much the seats don't truly belong to the owner and BMW have full control over them.
But this is the world and has becoming the proper new norm... Eventually you'll buy a frigging toaster and you'll only have a license to use it.

And to top it all. You don't even own your own money. If any financial institution doesn't like anything you are doing, then can just close your account and freeze your assets if they deemed it criminal, or goes against their terms of use.

No you don't. MS have made it that setting up a local account is hidden. You have to know the work around for it, which I post awhile ago.
To by-pass TPM:

I should point out here that the CPU may still be a requirement.
As for Linux. There seems to be a big push by certain companies to switch to rust for everything.

hence crypto currency like 'monero' xmr (opaque accounts, untraceable transactions, undistinguishable tokens 👍🥸🔥).
(not bitcoin btc which has become a surveillance procol / network, promoted by politicians and tradfi celebrities 👎)
also do your part, withdraw physical cash and spend physical cash, so that we keep it as payment method.
be the change you want to see in the world...
Im going to give Debian 13 and Pop_OS 22.04 a try.

I found this windows11 work around dead simple. FINALLY!
I cant trust a OS that isnt being actively updated.

You cannot even trust MS Windows updates. Not only will an update more than likely override any change you make, and add more bloatware. But there are reports that the Windows 10/11 24H2 update is totally trashing any solid state device's controller firmware. And people cannot make a claim against MS for it with the usual licence clause of "Not responsible or liable for damages through the use of this software" etc.
At least with Linux and software drivers. They will inform you if new driver that hasn't been full test can cause issues.

I like Pop_OS a great deal and used it for a couple of years before switching to Zorin (https://zorin.com/) recently (I don't distro-hop very often). Be interested to hear what you think.
i couldnt get debian13.iso to work?
Pop_Os is nice but no sorta Start menu.
Ive used parrotOS but i seem to be settling with FedoraOS.
It has a windows feel to it.
I wish someone would make a linux that runs .exe's without the need for wine?

Big mistake. Fedora is the testing branch for RedHat Enterprise, a company owned by IBM, who's business practices with open source software goes completely against the principles that Linux is released under, by implementing paywall access to the RedHat sources and adding their own terms and conditions. IBM like Canonical, are trying to manipulate the Linux ecosystem to their financial advantage. If you want to read more on the stuff that canonical and IBM RedHat have tried to pull, just type canonical controversy and IBM RedHat controversy into google search.
If you go for one of the rolling release distributions (those based on Arch), or something that is based on a testing branch. Then be prepared for some problems. And a real nasty one was narrowly averted, just because a Microsoft employee was investigating a performance regression with SQL in Debian Sid (Debain's unstable branch). A hacker had gained access as a maintainer to a compression library that nearly every other developer relied on, which was only being developed and maintained by one person. This hack had found it's way into a number of distributions, Fedora was one of them, so you can take it as read that nobody from the distributions that were affected did any checking. The power of open source can also be it's Achilles heel, as you are putting your trust in the authors not to have malicious intentions.
And I'm assuming that by "It has a windows feel to it". You are referring to the Fedora KDE Desktop. All that is is just the Workstation version using the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Did you actually read the ParrotOS documentation? (https://parrotsec.org/docs/configuration/desktop-enviroments/)

Well I thought that I'd check this documentation. And it turns out that it is correct, but the package doesn't work. Because it's asking for dependencies that it cannot install.
