Title: ..unexpected experience..
Post by: Naughty Alien on Aug 29, 2025, 10:09 AM
..this is not really tech or programing oriented but i thought i should share wit you guys...today i have had some rather unusual (on positive way) conversation with man who seems to be a little bit 'off chart', looks a bit messy and overall, most of people would avoid him which is what happen in coffee shop i was at the time..he seems to ve asking people, is it okay if he sit and share table with them (i assume this as this is what he asked me)..

After 'bouncing' around eventually he came to my table, i guess because my appearance was less friendly compared to others, lol, so i invited him..

So, long story short, i have to say that, i havent had such high quality conversation, about plenty of topics, stress free and very, depth wealthy, that im still a little bit surprised...im wondering how many of people pass by us that are most probably, high quality personalities but we never engage because surface appearance...ill meet man again, i hope, as i invited him to drop by at shipyard where im messing with some old boats and my crow friends, so we can beat up some talks again..  ;D

Have you ever encounter such thing?

A weirdo sat next to me and my mate on a bus once. We were about 12, he was like 60.

He just banged on about clocks for twenty minutes straight until we got off the bus.  :o

He probably had heads in his freezer.

Working on building sites, as working away from home for a lot of my working life, I've come across some weird and wonderful people, some odd balls, and obviously proper cracker jacks... Some working alongside, some just sitting in the pub.

But one that stands out the most is a fella that drank in the pub I was digging in in Hearne Hill in Brixton, the Brockwell Park Hotel (Or as the locals called it, The Tavern). I mean, he was proper down and out by the look of him, a proper Blackpool donkey (Plonky), he would literally sit at the bar, slouched over with his head in his folded arms, and only rising to take a swig from his beer. If you went into the bog for a slash, and he was in using it too, you'd find him leaned over with his head up against the wall while urinating in the urinal... The man just seemed to have no go, no life, absolutely nothing, just couldnt be arsed.

So I asked the barmaid Donna what his story was, and she said "James, you'd be surprised, ask him"

One night while getting served, I ended up next to him, and I did just that.

And wow... He was really well spoken, to look at him you'd of expected a bit of a Rab C Nesbitt thing going off, but no, English "posh" at it's finest. Turns out, he was a professor at Cambridge Uni, had the big house and all that, but then he found out his wife was cheating on him, and well... It destroyed him, he actually give her the big house, cars and everything and moved to London, where, obviously, he drank himself into the state he was in.

He was actually a really nice bloke, I felt so sorry for him, I asked him why he give his ex everything, and he just said it was the family home and he had two kids.

After that if at the bar, and he was there, I'd be like "Hello James", and he'd be in his slouched position and he would be "Good Evening Michael", not even rising, just his head buried in his arms.

Amazing, but there we are, and I don't think I've ever seen a bloke so destroyed and at rock bottom them him.
